Selecting an operation or company from the list below will generate
a report of mining activities based on data transcribed from the
Pennsylvania Mine Inspection Reports 1870-1945. Many operations also
have additional information including maps, articles, and photos.
Finally many of the original documents used to produce this site can
be viewed using the link at the lower right.

Over time, names of the operations, owners, and towns changed.
I've attempted to correlate this data to provide an accurate
picture of all the mining operations at each location. Some
relationships were explicit, some implied, and others
purely subjective. Your assistance with improving these
correlations is appreciated.
